KYU & DAN Tests

KYU belt exams are held every year on the dates announced in February, June and October. Exams can reach half an hour and 1.5 hours depending on the KYU level. Taking into account the excitement of the athletes, exams are held in an environment similar to the training environment without rushing. Athletes who have not completed 4 months in a lower generation on the test date can take the exams, but this decision also depends on the athlete’s performance and athletic ability as well as sensei’s decision.

The exam is divided into 3 stages as Kihon, Kata and Kumite. The scoring is done according to the table below.

According to this scoring system, all athletes who receive 60 or more are considered passed to the next KYU. Test contents are as follows:

Yellow Belt (7.Kyu) Test

Orange Belt (6.Kyu) Test

Green Belt (5.Kyu) Test

Blue Belt (4.Kyu) Test

Brown Belt (3.Kyu) Test

Brown Belt (2.Kyu) Test

Brown Belt (1.Kyu) Test

DAN Exams

Turkey Karate Federation Karate-Do Dan Directors, at 11 / h of Kyu-Dan and Examination Instructions, “Minimum of 4th Dan and 3rd level coaches, or at least the 5th Dan and 2nd level coaches can make the tests. As specified in the instructions, the athletes who have met all the necessary conditions (Minimum of Brown Belt 1st Kyu & 12 years old) for the examination can join the test.
If the athletes passes, then sensei sends the DAN test results as a form to the Federation for approval.  According to the exam instructions and content determined by our Federation, Black Belt 1st Dan exams are held in our Dojo every year in June and December.

Tests of the 2nd and higher DAN’s are held at the dates and centers determined by the Federation.
